8 Simple Ways To Optimize Your Immune System For Back To School

If you have ever felt overwhelmed trying to figure out the “right” way to take care of your health, you are not alone. Between conflicting advice, endless supplements, and busy schedules, it is easy to feel stuck. The good news is that supporting your immune system does not have to be complicated. Small, consistent choices can make a real difference, especially when you care for your whole self: body, mind, and spirit.
Here are eight gentle, practical tips to help your immune system do what it does best: protect and heal you.

1. Prioritize Real Rest
Sleep is when your body repairs itself. Aim for seven to nine hours a night, and try to keep a consistent bedtime. If your mind races at night, a warm cup of chamomile tea or a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow can help signal to your body that it is time to unwind.

2. Eat Antioxidant Rich Foods
Antioxidants help protect your cells from damage and support your immune system in fighting off illness. Try to fill half your plate with colorful plants at each meal. Berries, leafy greens, citrus fruits, sweet potatoes, and dark chocolate are all wonderful, simple ways to bring more antioxidants into your day.
3. Stay Hydrated
Water helps carry nutrients to your cells and flushes out toxins. A good rule of thumb is to drink half your body weight in ounces each day. Adding a slice of lemon or a splash of apple cider vinegar not only tastes great but also gives you a small boost of vitamin C and supports healthy digestion.

4. Move Your Body Every Day
You do not need an intense workout to support your immune system. A daily walk, gentle stretching, or a chiropractic adjustment can all help keep your nervous system, lymphatic system, and circulation working the way they should. Movement is medicine, and it does not have to be hard.
5. Care for Your Gut
A large part of your immune system lives in your gut. Support it with fermented foods like yogurt, kefir, or sauerkraut, and consider a quality probiotic. A healthy gut is one of the simplest ways to build lasting resilience.

6. Bring in Essential Oils
Essential oils have been used for centuries to support the body’s natural defenses. Oils like frankincense, oregano, On Guard blend and lemon can be diffused, applied topically when properly diluted, or used in cleaning products around your home. Always choose a pure, high quality oil and use it safely.

7. Calm Your Nervous System
Chronic stress keeps your body in “fight or flight” mode, which weakens your immune response over time. One of my favorite ways to help the body shift out of stress mode is chiropractic care. When your spine is aligned, your nervous system can communicate more clearly with the rest of your body, including your immune system.
This is not just something I see in my practice every day. Research published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that chiropractic spinal adjustments were linked to increased activity in neutrophils, the immune cells that help your body fight off germs. In one study, this rise in immune cell activity was measurable within just fifteen minutes of an adjustment (Brennan et al., 1991; Brennan et al., 1992).
Beyond the adjustment itself, simple practices like deep breathing, prayer, meditation, or time in nature can also help shift your body into a state of rest and repair. Even five quiet minutes a day can make a difference.
8. Release What You Are Carrying Emotionally
This is the piece so many people miss. Trapped emotions, old beliefs, and unresolved stress can live in the body and quietly affect your health, sometimes for years. Subconscious somatic work, like the Emotion Code and Body Code, gently helps release these hidden imbalances so your body can return to a state of balance and healing.

You Do Not Have to Figure This Out Alone
Whether you are recovering from illness, managing an autoimmune condition, healing after cancer, or simply feeling out of balance, it can be hard to know where to start. That is where I come in.
I bring together chiropractic care, essential oils, herbal support, nutrition, and subconscious somatic healing to help you address the root of what is going on, not just the symptoms. Every session is rooted in compassion, love, and understanding, because you deserve to feel truly seen and supported on your healing journey.
If you are ready to feel more balanced, energized, and at home in your body, I would love to help.
Schedule your subconscious somatic healing session today, and let’s take the next step toward your healing, together.
