Keep Moving…even when you travel

Whether you are travelling for business or for pleasure, it’s important to keep exercising and not fall out of routine.  Exercising is a life habit that should be done everyday.  Just as we eat every day, we need to move and take care of our body by exercising everyday.

Many people start a program and fall out of routine when life changes pace.  Running is something that can be done anytime and any place, which makes it great when travelling.  No need for any equipment

Recently I went away for the weekend and I had the pleasure of taking in a run instead of going to the hotel gym or doing a video from my computer.  While I was running through the town, I got to see so many more sights and was able to scout out the area so that I knew where I wanted to come back and visit, where are the good places to eat and shop, along with some of the historical monuments or facts about the city.  I saw so much more than had I just gone for a walk later in the day and it didn’t take as long so I still had my whole day ahead of me to do as I pleased, never-mind the wonderful, energized feeling one gets from a nice morning running.

Of course if you are in a strange city, you want to be mindful and safe, so ask the lobby attendant for a recommended route, and safe areas.  If running alone, do let someone know where you are going and when you will be back.

Prior to going on holidays, check the city schedule and see if there is a race happening that you can join, this is a great way to see the city and have fun running.

If running’s not your thing then there are plenty of other ways to tour a city and get your exercise in. Depending on the location, many cities have biking tours, kayak tours, hiking tours, and others, so be sure to check it out and find a way to enjoy moving and travelling at the same time.
