Oil pulling is a cleansing technique that has been used as part of natural healing practices found in ancient Ayurvedic texts for many thousands of years. It consists of simply swishing oil in the mouth for up to 20min/day to pull out toxins in the bloodstream.

There is a wide array of health benefits that come with Oil Pulling. From improved gum health, whiter teeth, clearer skin, eliminating bad breath, and improved complexion.  Many other positive changes have been found with continued practice such as positive changes in cellular health, better immunity, decrease of unwanted toxins including heavy metals, microorganisms which results in more energy and better overall health.

By adding C.P.T.G essential oils to the oil pulling practice can also bring in added benefits to the area of health you are wanting to target. Such as Frankincense or Lemon for detox, Clove for oral health, or OnGuard for immunity.

To create a successful Oil pulling practice, perform first thing in the morning, on an empty stomach, prior to taking in any liquids (including water) or food.

First choose your oil of choice, such as coconut (my go to), sesame, sunflower, cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, avocado, safflower, walnut, cod, castor, or black cumin oil based on the various properties you are wanting to work with along with taste you can handle.

Next choose your essential oil of choice to support your health concern.

Now that you’ve chosen, place 1 Tbsp of your selected oil and 1-2 drops of your CPTG essential oil (up to 5) in your mouth.  Note:If you have an older child or it seems like too much for you as you are getting started, you can start with a smaller amount.

Start swishing it – DO NOT SWALLOW – around your mouth, moving it around with your tongue. Do not tilt your head back.  It will get watery in consistency as it mixes with your saliva. Just keep going. If your jaw muscles become sore, relax your jaw and use your tongue to move it around. With proper practice, you should be able to do it for 20 min.  As the oil and saliva become saturated with the toxins, it’ll become a whitish or milk-like color depending on the oil you chose.

Spit it out in the trash!  Do NOT spit it down the drain as it will clog your drains over time. Rinse your mouth with warm water. You are welcome to add a bit of mineral salt to your warm water to add extra antimicrobial properties and soothe any inflammation or irritations in your mouth. Rinsing with help get rid of any residual toxins there may be in your mouth.

If ever you get the urge to swallow before 20 min has passed, either because it is unpleasant or you are still building up the practice, spit it out and start again until the change in the liquid has occurred. With practice, the urges will decrease and this will become an easy daily practice to support your health and reduce your toxic load.

Go ahead, give it a try. And let me know how it worked for you.
